Wendy
Meet the coach and owner of Whitakers Extreme gymnastics. Wendy Riley has over 35 years of experience coaching recreational and competitive gymnastics, emphasizing proper technique, safety, and positive learning environment. coach Wendy is very passionate about gymnastics and has made it her life goal to empower gymnasts to reach their full potential while building confidence and discipline. She is a former gymnast of over 40 years and a 9 year competitive gymnast under the USGF/USGA organization. Wendy is a verified AAFA personal trainer and certified NETA Pilates and yoga instructor. She believes a body in motion stays in motion.
Shannon
Inspired by a lifelong love for gymnastics, Mrs. Shannon has dedicated over 20 years to Whitakers Extreme Gymnastics. As Office Manager, she takes pride in building lasting relationships with families and witnessing the joy and growth of countless children. Shannons warm approach and unqavering commitment to "customer care" have been instrumental in creating a welcoming and supportive environment where young athletes can thrive and build lasting friendships.
Britt
Coach Britt is a dedicated gymnastics coach with over 15 years of coaching experience and 26 years of gymnastics, cheerleading and dance experience. She specializes in choreography, flexibility, training, and developing routines that showcase athletes' strengths and artistic expression. She has a keen eye for detail and is passionate about helping gymnasts find their unique style and shine on the competition floor. Coach Britt athletes have achieved numerous state championships. she focuses on advanced skill development with high achievements. Britt is the junior pre-team and acro coach.
Sydney
Meet coach Syd, Whitakers competitive team coach and parent and tot class director.
With a proven track record of success, coach Syd is voted AGA coach of the year. She joined Whitakers Extreme Gymnastics at age 5 and by 7 she was on the competitive gymnastics team. Sydney has over 13 years of experience in coaching competitive, recreational, and pre-school gymnastics. She possesses a deep understanding of the sport, focusing on skill development, copetitive strategy, and mental preparation. Coach Syd athletes have achieved and accomplished multiple state championships through their innovative training techniques and commitment to creating a supportive and motivating atmosphere.
Mac
Meet coach Mac. Coach Mac is Whitaker's Extreme Developmental pre team/ Jr pre-team coach. She is also the head coach for the tiny tot classes.
Coach Mac is a compassionate and enthusiastic gymnastics coach with over 8 years of coaching experience. She is skilled in creating fun, engaging less plans that emphasize foundational skills, safety, and the joy of movement. She believes in building a strong foundation of confidence and skills while making gymnastics a fun and rewarding experience for every child of all ages.
Jami
Meet coach Jami! She has over 20 years experience coaching gymnastics and cheer. Her journey started in her mother's 3 gyms where she spent most of her childhood. She aslo competed in gymnastics for 10 years before beginning to coach. She started in 2002 being a part of the Whitakers gym coaching rec, gymnastics team, and cheer team as well as coaching school cheer. The best part of being at Whitakers is the genuine family atmosphere, the support and care that the owners, staff, and coaches have for one another is truly special.
Layla
Meet coach Layla! She is a beautiful dancer that grew up dancing at Studio One and is now a Sophomore on the AHS Pom team. Layla is no stranger to gymnastics she attended recreational and tumble classes in her younger years and continues to spend many hours at Whitakers Extreme Gymnastics supporting her sister Lexi. Her continued dedication and willingness to learn makes Layla a great coach. She has proven the ability to create fun, engaging classes that focuses on foundational skill, safety, and enjoyment. Layla is passionate about building confidence in young gymnast and athletes.
Lexi
Lexi is a motivated and passionate student coach with a strong foundation in gymnastics. Lexi joined Whitakers Extreme at age 8 and is now a level 5 competitive gymnast. She is very eager to learn and contribute as a coach. Lexi has excellent communication and interpersonal skills while assisting young gymnasts.
Darcy
Meet Darcy. She is an Altus High Shool biology and anatomy teacher by day and a Whitakers Extreme recreational coach in the evening. As a teacher of 5 years, Darcy is passionate about providing youth knowledge in all aspects of their lives. Darcy began her journey here at Whitakers, attending open gym, filling in for cheer stunts for competitive team, and enrolling in our adult gymnastics classes. She began coaching here in 2024. Darcy continues to practice gymnastics during her adult class while learning new fun techniques and skills to teach her gymnasts.
Darcy was crowned Miss Great Plains 2024 title in Oklahoma and now holds the title of Miss Greater South West 2025. She was a titleholder in the 2024 Miss Oklahoma pageant, where she was awarded 3rd place in ad sales.
Darcy Hobbies include baking, crafting, and crocheting.
Mia
Mia is a current level Sr. 9 competitive gymnast who also coaches at Whitakers Extreme Gymnastics classes. Mia has achieved many gold medals under the American Gymnastics Association and continues to strive as one of Oklahoma and Texas top gymnasts. Her continued dedication and willingness to learn makes Mia a great coach. her strong foundation of confidence and skills gives her the ability to teach young gymnast the knowledge needed for them to achieve new skills.
She is a participant on the Altus High School Dance team and higlighter her flexibility and gymnastics talent. Mia is involved in her church youth group and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
